So I wanted to point out some little things I like today.
First picture: Hot Air Balloons. I love hot air balloons...possibly a little too much, but that's ok! My parents ordered this shirt for me (brother dear has the same one) because it is just covered in the lovely little floating things! I don't know how many people are aware of it but Transport Canada, the people who do licencing that has to do with things that move, has a hot air balloon licence...that I dearly, dearly want to get one day! It would just be so cool...
Second picture: There are two things in this picture. One is my favourite tea mug. We were separated for months because I was silly enough to leave it in my flat in Calgary, and my roommate Katelyn just mailed it home to me! I was so excited to get it back, and when I picked up the box from the mail it seemed heavier than just a mug...because she's bought a LUSH bath gift box, and had them wrap the mug up inside amongst the soaps! Katelyn, you are the best!!
The second thing in that picture is my WHS archaeological 4 inch pointing trowel. It came to me this summer, and it's my very first trowel! I don't know if you can see it in the photo but there is some iron age soil still crusted to it...from the one day I actually got to dig on the IOM this year (I was there for illustration, remember?). I feel like a pro with it though!
Third picture: Tea! I needed some good old Twinings (dang it UK!) when I got home, so I picked up this little variety pack...and after trying them all, I had to rate them...because I really don't like Lady Grey. It seems like it should be so nice too, with citrus and stuff in it, but no. Really no. Jim said he likes it a lot though, so I'll just mail them all to him at some point! Would that be good, Jim?
So there we go!
In other news, I have finished all the charts I need for my project and can actually start writing the report for the people who sponsored my work this summer (yay! I'm nearly a professional!) and then write some more awesome articles for a hopeful publication or two.
I've also started watching Game of Thrones after many prompts from people, and it's good so far! I've had to hide during various horrid scenes of blood and gore..but that's normal for me.
...but I'm currently sitting around watching stupid tv shows, drinking lime fizzy water, and reading cheesy mystery books. I just had a long bubble bath with chocolates and the same cheesy book and the sounds of my cats sitting outside meowing for food (more food).
Tomorrow I've got to start the data base...or a preliminary database? Arg..it's going to be pretty difficult! I've got to put everything in order and things, and then write an article or two about it! And a report thing to send to my school. Goodness.
If anyone needs me I'll be sitting at some table or another in my house, surrounded by papers and tea. With hair in my face.
Maybe I'll even dress properly! (doubtful!) haha~
a) My work station for the last month. Illustration booth!
b) Walkway to the Point of Ayre lighthouse. It was such terrible weather!
c) Close-up of our card to the Chocolate Fairy cafe. I drew my kitty~
d) Curry dinner after the adventure to the north!
Look, I've returned from work on the Isle of Man! Well, returned to Wales at least..still not back in Canada quite yet!
Jim and I have decided that we're going to make more youtube videos and things, and have created a little youtube channel call Diggeriffic . We only have one video so far, which is a short document of Jim, our friend Chris, and me getting very lost in the northern part of the Isle of Man. Decent into madness? Pretty much!
Hope you enjoy, and subscribe to our channel for various...probably silly videos!
Serious face, children. Or angry? I don't really do angry face though, as everyone knows! Today is my last day of work on the Isle of Man, before a free day tomorrow and the day of travelling back to Wales on Saturday. From Wales to London then, and flying home!
..sort of home, after some appointments and adventuring in Vancouver!
Jim and I have a plan! We are going to make two youtube channels: one for vlogs and one for actual little movies and things, that will mostly end up being travel adventure films or what have you. Really, I'll probably be doing vlogs more, and filming whatever Jim would like to make for the other one! Not much of an actor here, buuut a creative director? I could do that!
Trying to download a 30-day trial of Adobe Premier Elements, for video editing...but it has said 53 minutes remaining for the last 15 minutes. Um?
Also considering getting a small camcorder, because as much as I love my waterproof camera, it is waterproof and the mic doesn't pick up everything I'd want it to. I was thinking a Flip camera? Or perhaps one of the Kodak or Sony waterproof sport camcorders. They are all about the same price, so I'm going to see if I can't make enough for one in tips over the end of the summer!
Or to get a new battery pack for my computer...because it seems to think it needs a new one soon. (jerk computer)
So I know my photos are usually larger than that and all, but photobucket isn't cooperating with the internet connection I have here so that is the best you're going to get at the moment! Me...with tea...in the same place I've been working for the last 3.5 weeks.
It's mine...and I'm probably going to miss it. Heck, there is a view of a fantastic historic chapel out of the window...past the stack of 8 Dell computer towers, 2 monitors, rolls of pera-trace with maps, and a pencil drawing in a frame of a longboat (which is carved in a high cross in the Maughold cemetary, I saw it!). Past all of that there is a chapel!
Sorry for the utter lack of regular programming, but there isn't really anything I can do about that until I get home! Things have been recorded in my travel journal, so it's not for lack of holes in the vague documentation of my life, that's for sure.
I've been working as an archaeological illustrator and occationally supervisor in Ireland and the Isle of Man for the past 6 weeks. When I say working, it's more like...existing. It's work experience, but not a payable job. dang. Good thing I have a research grant too, or I'd be...well, more broke than I am at the moment!
I should go back to work...
Oh! As well as working, I am gearing up for (as in getting my Visa for) moving to England for a year! School in one place bores me greatly, and as I am apparently a nomadic person I am doing a year abroad in England~ I was thinking that as well as blogging while I'm over there, I'd do little vlogs as well and upload them to youtube as well as embedding them over here on the blog! I know Jim wants to start doing videos and more acting things, so there might be a lot of that on there as well, which might be something interesting to see! I'll probably be doing most of the filming, in that case.
Just a short heads up to everyone who still reads my little blog!
I'm off doing field work on the Isle of Man (and was previously in Ireland) and the internet is a bit hard to get sometimes...and too slow to let me upload photos.
When I get home though, there will be pictures here!
